AP ART HISTORY

This course is a college-level course intended to prepare students for the

Advanced Placement Art History Examination.

Hello and welcome to AP Art History!  I am very excited to begin teaching this class.

Art History is practiced in everyday life and is not an esoteric field of study meant only for specialists. In this spirit, there are several objectives for the course, including an emphasis on visual literacy and developing both critical thinking skills and an appreciation of works of art from cultures beyond the European tradition. Students also learn how art mediates a vast range of human experiences.

Textbook- {Gardner’s Art Through the Ages. 12.th ed.}

Students will be loaned a textbook for home study. It is to be returned to the school in good condition by a specific date (to be announced) at the end of the year, or before withdrawing from the course or CHS, in order to avoid paying replacement costs.

Course Fee

Students enrolling in AP Art History have an exam fee of $95 due before September 29th.
